My favorites

These three are a few of my favorites from this year!

Dear Future AP Art student,
AP art is a lot of fun but also a lot of hard work. When picking a concentration make sure it's something you can work with and improve the whole year. Don't be vague to other people about what your concentration is or they won't understand what you are doing like me. Don't wait until the night before to create a piece. You may think you create your best work under pressure but it is really stressful. Don't skip a bunch of art classes, if you don't think it's important enough to come then don't be in AP art. AP art isn't all stressful, you get to have parties, go on an art retreat and have an awesome showcase which is super fun! Good luck next year!

Concentration Update

My concentration focuses on layer by covering up and revealing things to get the outcome that I want. I also incorporate drawings in ink that I think add more character to my pieces and make them more interesting too look at. I was watching this documentary on Beyonce today and she said something like art doesn't always have to mean something it is something that just comes from your heart and is something that you love. That's not exactly what she said but i liked it and that's kinda how i feel about my concentration. I have a hard time telling people what it is that I'm doing but I really love what I'm am doing with art this year and it makes me happy.
This piece is my most current piece. I think it feels different than my other ones but not necessarily in a bad way. I don't think I'm completely finished with it yet and I think I'm going to change the color of the orange diamond because I don't like it very much it's feels clashy. This piece just needs some work. I'm getting into incorporating a darker background though because I like the contrast. Sorry the quality is bad the lighting in my room is horrible and it was taken on a phone.

Second Critique

I've been struggling with what my concentration is but in these pieces I was going in the direction of combining lines and defined shape with looser mark making and paint strokes.

Poster Picture

Here's to one of the weirdest nights ever. My mom got home from work and discovered that I had ruined the teapot. Earlier I thought it made sense to put soap and water in the teapot and put it on the stove to clean it then I forgot about it and the soap burned and made a mess and I got distracted then never cleaned it up. When my mom discovered this she was really angry, so angry that she wouldn't take a picture with me with the art poster (her work paid for one of the ads). So I had my dad stand in for my mom and too make matters worse I forgot I had to take this picture and tonight I thought it would be a good night to try no heat curling for your hair and I looked ridiculous so this is how the picture turned out.

PS the other person who bought an ad from me was out of town.

My concentration

I'm not exactly sure what my concentration is but I think it is going to be interpreting relationships through line and color, maybe I'm not really sure but the relationship would be up to your own interpretation

A work in process...I need some help making it not look like a background

Artist-Hollie Chastian

I think the underlying idea in this artist work is to incorporate patterns with images of people either painted drawn or pasted on. His paintings leave you wondering what he is trying to say because many of the people in his pieces don't have faces.

The artist creates visual coherence by using the same patterns in each piece. You can tell that all the artist pieces go together and they all have an element of mystery.

The artist repetitively uses pattern and shape in his pieces. He also uses the same color scheme in all of his paintings.

Artist-Miranda Skoczek

I think the artists underlying idea is to incorporate animals and colors using layers. She says that her goal is to explore themes like memory and history. She tries to create luxury in her paintings.

To create visual coherence she uses a lot of layering in each painting. to connect them she also tends to incorporate animals in some way to tell a story.

One of the elements Miranda uses is texture, the layering she uses creates an interesting texture. She also uses shape and tends to use geometric shapes like the triangle in her paintings.
